He would like to wipe it off the map, but he won't be able to. The Poles have already said they will deploy their forces in Ukraine if the Ukranians are in trouble, and the Polish army is quite impressive.

@abrahamdozer6273 it's not that big; only 140 million. Japan size, with a third of the economic power. The land doesn't sustain a large population. Most of it is either permafrost or has a very short growing season due to the long cold winters there.

They did. I was told this when I lived in Russia. Much more oppressive now. Fascism is actually worse than communism.

Well. Russia spends 3,600 dollars per citizen per annum,of which 1,200 goes to the milutary. The UK govt spends 12,000 dollars on each citizen, of which 300 goes to the military. I'll leave you to work out the rest.

You can get away with it if you don't need tax revenues, which Putin thinks he doesn't due to fossil fuel income, but down the line, when the world doesn't need fossil fuels, Russia will be in huge trouble. His failure to invest the revenues in civil projects will be his true legacy.
