They believe it. I once had an unpleasant conversation with a russian who claimed stalin invaded Finland because it was a threat. It had one hundredth of the population and it was too poor to give everyone a uniform when stalin invaded. He believed. It is a sick society.

You're not great when you are ignorant.
1
The ignorance, the hubris, which is worse?

We need to know who they are, and their primitive worldview. I would have mentioned to the guest that russia emerged from the fall of the mongol empire, in which Moscow was formed and belonged, and Ukrainian national identity emerged in the nineteenth century in a very similar manner to German and Italian national movements, driven by their respective intelligentsias. Russia and Ukraine are actually both typical examples of how nations form. I can only describe the guest as historically illiterate.

They have to create this crazy narrative to cope with their country's misdevelopment.
1
Denying millions of people their national identity. Whaf century is this for fcuks sake.

Actually, its reassuring. The quality of education is obviously so poor there, and they clearly haven't taught him critical thinking skills, that I doubt we will have to worry about them catching us up.
1
No, I'm afraid russia has.

Its all a bit thick.

315,000 casualties, deaths 60,000 total , avdievka 16 000 dead. I guess they don't tell you that at home.

You have to wonder about the standard of russian education.

Hitler said that. Exactly that.

Kyiv was founded in the sixth century. There were no russian czars until the fifteenth, even if you include the dukes of the duchy of muscovy, which changed its name to Russiain the seventeenth century. I'm not russian, and I know that. Do you have schools?
1
Muscovy, was founded after the fall of Kyivan Rus. It owes its rise to the position its rulers obtained under Mongol rule by being efficient tax collectors for their then overlords. Taking advantage of Mongol decline, it established itself as a regional power by expanding first eastward, then later southward. In the seventeenth century its ruling dynasty had the marvellous idea of legitimising its rule by renaming itself Russia, and claiming descent from Rurik, considered by modern scholars to be a figure of legend, and thus the "inheritors" of Rus, a medieval state which was founded by Swedish vikings, the varangians, whose main business was capturing and selling the local slavic population in the slave markets of Arabia and constantinople. Now tell me this guy isn't some kind of nut.

Did the Engals really migrate from there? Interesting. Do you know when? I know Donetzk was founded by British steel industrialists, and Lugansk by British and German ones I think. Maybe we should claim them too😊
