If I understand this correctly, russia has been supplying gas to Transnistria, but sending the bills to Moldova?

Thanks for the explanation Starsky. Now that the US has shown itself to be an unreliable "partner" it is good to have alternative sources of supply - that are also cheaper.

I felt sorry for that last guy. That really brought home the horrors of war. In the end we're all human beings and it's sad his leaders have put him in that position. Unfortunately there will be Ukrainian troops in similar situations. Putin is an a-hole. Slava Ukraini.
5
No, russia feeds the flames. Fico stands by watching as if nothing is wrong with russia's aggression.

@petergreenwood7731 The nukes in Ukraine were Soviet. After the dissolution of the USSR they were Ukrainian. While the codes were held in Moscow, much of the development and manufacture was carried out in the Ukrainian Soviet Republic, so it would not have taken Ukraine long to reconfigure them. Belguim is far from russia. Belarus is very close to NATO - so who is the aggressor? Answer: russia is the aggressor.

@lg2058 Of course it's territorial expansion. Putin has written papers on the subject of re-establishing the russian empire.
3
Wrong, a shift isn't coming. A shift has already occurred. The US can no longer be relied upon.
2
It's spelled "Odesa".

@lg2058 "It’s in its best interest to negotiate ASAP " Why would anybody "negotiate" with a country that doesn't understand the meaning of the word, and has broken every agreement it ever made with Ukraine. That would be foolish - especially now that russia is on the back foot.
2
@lg2058 Ukraine is a sovereign nation and as such Putin has no say in what geopolitical decisions Ukraine makes, nor what defence alliances it joins. Unfortunately for russia, Putin has set his country on its road to death - as shown by its inability to repel the huge threat of NATO from its Finnish border. Actually, NATO is no threat to russia - unless of course russia has territorial expansion intentions - and you've just assured me that it hasn't. So Ukraine joining NATO should not be a problem for russia.

@lg2058 "There is not a word that Rus has rights to take any of the land." And yet it claims it has. The new territories.
2
@lg2058 "where he is talking about reestablishing an “empire”. He is unable to re-establish the borders of the USSR/russian empire without taking land. Especially as almost no country that has ever been a part of the USSR, or even a member of the Warsaw Pact, ever wants to be under russian control again.
2
@PandemoniumMeltDown Yes. He's a well known russian sympathiser - blinded by his admiration of Putin.
2
That sounds like russian bs Wolf. Very few Javelins and NLAWs have ended up on the black market from Ukraine, but russia likes to make stuff up. Have you fallen for the russian lies?
1
It wasn't for the greater good, Wolf. You can see how russia has abused its trust and its treaties - for the greater bad.
1
Yes. It's time for Ukraine to start developing nuclear capability, while they still have the know how. Hopefully they are already doing so in secret.

Putin keeps putting across his BS because he is desperate. His war is ruining the russian economy, and he calculates that the only way it can recover is if he gets all of the four oblasrs - to exploit and asset strip. If he agrees to anything less he knows he won't survive. So he keeps insisting that those oblasts are really russian, and that Zelensky isn't legit (so that he can cut him out of any negotiations). Interestingly, Zelensky has greater legitimacy than Putin, as Putin has not had a real election since the 2000s. So unless he call bs his way through this, Putin knows his days are numbered. He's really desperate.

@lg2058 I can see clearly who is fooling himself - it is you my good man. Ukraine is a sovereign nation and as such Putin has no say in what geopolitical decisions Ukraine makes, nor what defence alliances it joins. Unfortunately for russia, Putin has set his country on its road to death - as shown by its inability to repel the huge threat of NATO from its Finnish border. So Ukraine joining NATO should not be a problem for russia.

@lg2058 "You gotta be able to back up your claims with facts. Waiting…" Still waiting? What makes you think I'm going to jump when you make demands, when we all know you're a Vatnik. I'll answer your questions after you list all the countries where Putin has failed to "respects sovereignty of his neighbors" - which is obviously untrue (it'll be a long list).
1
@lg2058 What a shame then, that russia is causing NATO expension.
1
@lg2058 "allow Ukraine to join NATO, thus losing its key naval base in Crimea ". That's quite a jump there - and not necessarily true. russia was going to lose Sevastopol anyway, as a result of their poor treatment of Ukraine. So they grabbed territory. They were losing influence in Donbas - as a result of their poor treatment of Ukraine - so they grabbed territory. Why did you lie about Putin respecting the sovereignty of his neighbors?
1
@lg2058 "this war is over NATO expansion" What a pity then, that russia is causing NATO expansion.

1
@lg2058 Why did you lie about Putin respecting the sovereignty of other nation?
1
@lg2058 Poor treatment, yes. Constant interference in internal affairs. Constant stifling of growth in order to keep the colonies in debt to and dependent on 'mother' russia.
1
@lg2058 Why did you lie about Putin respecting the sovereignty of other nations? And now about Putin "helping" Ukraine?
