NATO already controls access to the Black Sea, through NATO member Turkey. NATO has not abused that control. Russia has abused other nations within the Black Sea (blockade of Ukrainian ports and missile strikes from Russian ships). Therefore it's unlikely that NATO nations would restrict Russian ships in the Baltic Sea, unless Russia behaves belligerently there as well.

@hk3339 Hooman, the 2013 revolution wasn't done by outside forces. It was done by the Ukrainian people. They were upset that a government elected on the premise of moving closer to Europe betrayed them by signing up with Russia instead. And if a revolution does illegitimise a country, then Russia has been illegitimate since 1917. So your argument is stupid. Or are you one of those people who think that Russia can do whatever it likes, while other countries can only do what Russia likes - because that seems to be what you are arguing.

I think you're looking at it the wrong way. The EU wanted to welcome Russia (look at what Germany tried to do), but Russia wasn't interested in working with the west. Instead it has adopted an expansionist domineering approach to its neighbours - best illustrated by its war on Ukraine. Moves by the Baltic nations are to make Russia aware that their every move can now be monitored. I don't think that the Baltic nations have actually said they will block Russia, but they are making it clear that if Russia extends it's belligerence to the area, they do had the ability to cut Russia off.

@dragandavidovic508 Russia was not "forced" to begin this war. They chose to attack Ukraine. Australia is unhappy that the Solomon Islands are cosying up to China. That does not give them the right to invade the Solomon Islands. They are not "forced" to invade. Russia has no right to invade Ukraine. Russia is the aggressor. Russia is in the wrong.

@izajahmed8863 Not irrelevant at all.

@afonsoalexandre4722 No I don't think that's true.

@dragandavidovic508 I am also interested in your statement that "Russia declared their terms...". Russia has no business and no right to "declare terms" to another nation. That's what you do when demanding surrender. Who the hell do the Russians think they are? (The correct answer is belligerent war mongering a-holes).

@ben9l351 Russia would not be wrong to destroy scientific laboratories, end child slavery or get rid of Nazis. However these are all figments of some Russian propagandist's imagination (and yours apparently). The best way to rid Ukraine of Nazis is to send the Russian troops back to Russia. You need to stop watching Russian television and get your information from many and varied free sources, not heavily controlled and censored government sources. Have you ever wondered why Putin has banned all non-government news in Russia.

@PETE4955 What would be impossible? Which treaty? Which part of what is bullshit?

@hk3339 That's bollocks Hooman. Ukraine was sovereign before 2014 as well as after. Any doubt over the legitimacy of the Ukrainian government was dispelled with fair democratic elections. Those elections were, apparently, more legitimate than the pre-2014 elections, in that there was considerable voting fraud before 2014.

@kingazul-a8610 Yeah, whatever. Sounds like bollocks to me.
