  2. It depends on whether or not UBI is paid for with a regressive tax and whether or not it is a Trojan horse to gut the existing social safety net. Assuming that it is not, we need the following societal solutions first: 1) Medicare for All 2) Green New Deal 3) Federal minimum wage of $15/hour indexed to inflation 4) Federal Jobs Guarantee 5) Free Public Postsecondary Education 6) Student Loan Forgiveness and Medical Debt Forgiveness 7) Workplace Democracy 8) Affordable Housing Guarantee Then, and only then, do we need to evaluate our situation and determine if we need a UBI and, if so, what it should look like.
