@whiskeymonk4085 Taxes were a lot higher in the 1950s and people "gave money to one entity" back then, too. The problem is that the incentive for everyone except for renters and those trying to buy a house is to make housing as expensive as possible. If you are in a nice area to live in, it is very common to see For Sale signs replaced a couple months later with For Rent signs that jack up the rental market making it impossible for people to save up. And then if you do somehow manage to save up, some private equity fund will outbid you. In the words of the late, great Sinead O'Connor, fight the real enemy.
