@Tommy Vaughn In fairness to Pakman, his argument is that democratic socialism is closer to Allende, and what Bernie really wants is social democracy. Personally, I don't care what he calls it, just as long as he does great things for the people and makes the government work for the people instead of the rich.

@LiaMari So true. To this day, only one person has ever been elected to the US Senate as a Democrat (Leahy) from Vermont. It was one of only two states to vote for Landon.

@Tommy Vaughn And Denmark defines itself as a social democracy. I personally don't care too much about the name, but I am just pointing out that some argue that there is a difference between the two.

@Tommy Vaughn Pakman himself has defended socialism against, among other things, the "socialism has never worked" argument. If socialism is defined by who controls the means of production, his argument is accurate. It seems like semantics to me, but it is accurate by that definition.
