@thetowerstillstands I think the big reason for the difference is the age of the actresses. Lisa Loring was six, and Christina Ricci was 11.

@thetowerstillstands Yes, they are presented differently, but my point is that if they hired another six year old, they aren't getting the dark version from the movies. What you want to do means nothing if you don't have the cast to give you what you want.

@jerrycoffey8825 Yes. I think the movie seemed to focused on the creepy factor rather than the balance. And as great an actor as Raul Julia was, John Astin was, is, and always will be Gomez.

@thetowerstillstands I even liked the original. I wasn't even disagreeing. I was just saying that a big reason for the possibility of that tone was going older.
