@screenarts So, the response to money going to the wealthy donors is to send even more to the wealthy donors?

Well, hopefully a solid primary candidate jumps in early enough in 2023 for her to realize that her time is up and get her to fly right until she can get voted out.

@coimbralaw Johnson, yes, but if you look at the actual accomplishments of that era, it seems like people want to give Kennedy the credit for the good things that Johnson did, and give Johnson the blame for the bad things that were a continuation of what Kennedy did. LBJ is probably the most underrated President in American history.

Manchin is more easily understandable when you understand that, by definition, in order for him to win, he needs to get at least 40% of his support from Trump voters. He is literally the best that you can get in West Virginia. Sinema has no such excuse. Biden and Kelly both won Arizona, the latter with a bigger margin than her, and he has higher approval ratings.

@xyzsame4081 Are you actually from West Virginia? Do you know people there, or are you looking through what you hope is true. Polling data on health care is entirely unreliable, because most people don't even know what is in the bill. I keep getting Dore knobs praising Tulsi Gabbard saying that banning competing private insurance is un-American, while being mad that a vote wasn't forced... on a bill that bans competing private insurance. I did canvassing on Medicare for All, and I talked to at least half a dozen people who sang the praises of Medicare for All only to immediately make it obvious that what they really mean is that they like the idea of universal health care, but what they really want is a public option. And, yes, Bernie did well in 2016, but that vote was definitely more a case of being a vote against Hillary rather than a vote for Bernie. I would love for Manchin not to be the way he is, but you're not getting anyone better. Why do you think Paula Jean Swearingen lost by 43 points to Shelley Moore Capito in 2020 and no one outside of internet comment sections has been hyping a primary challenge to him in 2024?
