At this point, I think that the best thing for America would be for the Republican Party to go the way of the Whigs, the Democratic Party to become a sane party of the right akin to the Christian Democrats of Germany or Mexico, and have a new party on the left. Whether or not this will happen depends on whether 45% of the population will literally vote for anyone with an R behind their names.
