  1. 100 years ago, these same people would have complained about paying for school past the eighth grade. A lot of them probably still don't get why we call it "high school."

  3. PA is definitely awful when it comes to college. Tuition alone is nearly $19,000/year at Penn State. When I was an undergrad, a lot of people came from PA to WVU because out-of-state tuition there was lower than in-state tuition in PA. When I graduated, tuition was $3600/year. Even now, in-state tuition for WVU is less than $8000, so despite the GOP takeover of the state, it's probably still cheaper for out-of-state tuition there than in-state tuition here.
