@MarkTubeG We didn't elect a game show host, the Electoral College did. The people chose Hillary Clinton. I can't help but think of the irony that the whole logic behind the Electoral College was that people couldn't be trusted to make such decisions, but in the last 130 years, any split between the people and the Electoral College involved the former choosing the more qualified candidate (Gore and Clinton) over the less qualified or unqualified one (Bush and Trump).

Reagan such "peace and prosperity" that pretty much every bad thing started to grow and every good thing started to shrink or stagnate during Reagan's term in office.

@kylejones8289 Indeed. I remember that the Bush Administration tried to use some sort of EC or something in Iraq to elect their leaders in 2003, but the people were having none of it.

@kylejones8289 Even if it worked the way they wanted, it still was a terrible idea. Thomas Jefferson realized that by 1820. Several changes to the Constitution have been to make it more democratic, such as direct election of US Senators and expanding the franchise. In all honesty, in 2004, a part of me had hoped that Kerry would win the Electoral College and lose the popular vote so it wouldn't be seen as something that only benefited one party and made it easier to get support to repeal it.
