It is far more common with left handed people. For example, I throw a baseball, spike a volleyball, and work keys and combination locks right handed. My theory: chalk a lot of up to society. To a certain extent, you have to at least try some things with your right hand.

@kfdaddy The thing with the knives is fairly common. The usual practice is that if you're using a fork, you cut with the opposite hand so you don't have to switch, but with the preferred hand when using it alone. I will cut meat on my dinner plate with my right hand, but I spread things with my left. My daughter is right handed, and I noticed that she cuts meat with her left hand.

To a certain extent, I wonder how much of these numbers are affected by just how much stuff is made for right handed people and how many people have someone who tries to switch them. My cousin is five years older than me, and my aunt forced her to switch. Her son was a lefty and she told her mom not to dare try to switch him. A kindergarten teacher tried to force me to switch, but my mom wouldn't let her.
