@LibbyRal Florida became a magnet for the crazy people in DeSantis's reign. Maybe the Democratic Party needs to stop using good money to chase after bad money in states like Florida. Instead of spending $50MM against Rubio, use some of that money in Wisconsin, North Carolina, and maybe Ohio, and suddenly Manchin and Sinema have a lot less power because you're looking at 53 or 54 seats instead of 51.

@kitsunekage12 Gerrymandering has absolutely nothing to do with statewide races. Why do people keep using that term for things that it has nothing to do with? If you want to argue about why he gets so much support in the legislature, have at it, but the line that elected him was drawn over 200 years ago.

@LibbyRal It is a simple matter of triage. There is not an infinite amount of resources. When I lived in West Virginia, I understood why we stopped getting national attention. Maybe get to within single digits again before any sort of investment like that again. Would you rather have tens of millions in your state, or two or three more Democrats in the Senate right now?

@kitsunekage12 Fair enough. I guess I have a hair trigger on that term being used inaccurately because I have seen so many occasions of people attributing the victories of statewide officials to gerrymandering that I just want to, in the words of Sinead O'Connor, fight the real enemy.

@iyamwhatiyam547 Well, I don't hate Mitt, but McConnell was the biggest enabler of Der Orangefuhrer in Congress. He broke the system to stack the deck with judges, and those judges will cause problems for decades to come. He has been a textbook example of tyranny of the minority.

@Jonathan Banner Who? Not that I thought Crist was a good candidate, but unless you have someone specific in mind, that's Underpants Gnomes territory. The last Democratic to win a Florida gubernatorial election was Lawton Chiles in 1994. If Voldemort could win two terms as governor and beat Bill Nelson for Senate, Florida has basically become what Missouri was 10-15 years ago: Democrats can get close, but not quite seal the deal.
