@KingoftheJuice18 If Ted Cruz isn't a fascist, he is clearly playing to fascists to gain power, and is there any real difference at this point?

@SimonTBam Why would you have to invent it? It's all laid out. You just have to apply your situation to the template.
2
@KingoftheJuice18 But you're the one arguing that it shouldn't be used, so what would be a better word?
2
@KingoftheJuice18 And that's what Trump is doing. Were the people who were "just following orders" or who "stayed in order to keep worse atrocities from happening" any better? In some ways, they are worse because they knew better.

@Mondegreen---SFW Once you smear feces on the walls of Congress, you are no longer able to call yourself that.

@uhoh8115 I was pleasantly surprised by that, because Romney as a Presidential candidate seemed willing to say just about anything.

If it walks like a fascist, and it talks like a fascist, we should call it fascist.

@malcolmx2461 What does that one mean? Last summer, I spent a long weekend at my parents' house and saw a Three Percenters decal on someone's SUV. My parents didn't know what it meant. There are a lot of these fascists hiding in plain sight.

@Mondegreen---SFW Let's not bring populism into this. Populism is a left-wing ideology that wants to bring more democracy to the people. Taking a style and distorting it doesn't make it so. No real populist ever cut taxes for the rich.

@Mondegreen---SFW Show me where Bernie Sanders used the people for his own end. Unless you are confusing a style for a philosophy, populism is left wing. And in its original form, it got the income tax, the primary over the smoke-filled room, and direct election of Senators. Many of the populists were also on board with women's suffrage. The blend of the populist and socialist movements is what led to the New Deal, and one of its acolytes gave the Great Society and the greatest civil rights legislation since the Civil War Amendments. Trump is not a populist, and Orban, Bolsanaro, Boris Johnson, Modi et al are not either.

@Mondegreen---SFW We used the word "populist" first. It was the name for a party in the 1890s that was a collection of farmers and workers who fought for a 40-hour work week, fair wages, and greater democracy. Just because you messed up our word doesn't make it any less true. They might want to call themselves right-wing populists, but they are fascists, pure and simple.

@Mondegreen---SFW It's not just semantics. It was a conscious effort to make the demands of common people trivial at best and evil at worst. It was an effort to concentrate even more power in the hands of the already rich and powerful. You can along with that if you want, but I never will.
