  1. No one is saying that states and localities can't go over $15.00/hour. We are just saying that should be the floor.

  2. Okay, the original reply has disappeared, but I am guessing that the person who made it still has that question. The reason why the ultimate goal is to set a federal minimum of $15 is because there is ample evidence that the poverty level is far too low to accurately assess how much it costs to live. Businesses get several years to increase their wages and get used to not being allowed to use poverty wages as a business model any longer. The stimulative effect will be immense, and this is why that would work better.
