  3.  @littlebitofhope1489  All a republic means is that there is no monarch. "A republic, not a democracy" is the equivalent of saying, "It's not a grape, it's purple!" Here are some examples of each: Democratic Republic: France, Germany Democratic but not a Republic: UK, Sweden Republic but not a Democracy: China Neither a Republic nor a Democracy: Saudi Arabia

  4.  @ron-paulsartre  The problem with term limits is that they force good elected officials out. How would America have fared if FDR was term-limited and couldn't run in 1940? Yes, there is potential for corruption when someone stays in for too long, but China had term limits until Xi, so it's not like it stopped them from having a dictatorship.

  6.  @pefo1674  Or, maybe you could try to write coherent sentences so I can figure out what you're trying to say with your response. You're the one saying that democracies have executive term limits, and I pointed to examples that don't. Someone else listed Australia as well. A lot of democracies are parliamentary systems, and they tend not to have term limits. Merkel was Chancellor for about 15 years.
