There have been two times where a floor vote was forced on the Electoral College (1969 and 2005). The former was ironically started by Poppy Bush because of a faithless elector in North Carolina voting for Wallace instead of Nixon. In 2005, Barbara Boxer agreed to sign a petition to challenge the votes in Ohio. Both were heavily defeated. If the Republican Party still hasn't broken free of the cult in the next eight days, and the House rejects the challenge and the Sebate approves it, the tiebreaker according to the Electoral Count Act of 1887 is whichever slate was certified by the governor of the state, so it is still doomed to failure. The only question is how much damage can be inflicted in the meantime.
