  2. Actually, a small correction, David. George doesn't collect money for himself under the guise of The Human Fund. He gets a card to say that a donation was made on his coworkers' behalf to The Human Fund so he could avoid buying Christmas gifts.

  3.  @dr.g3860  He was 13 when it originally aired, and the show has never been off the air. I think he remembered the idea of the fake charity, but not the details.

  4. Obviously, you've never lived in places where people made less and things cost less, or remembered that the Great Depression, as well as several other depressions in the 19th century (1837, 1873, 1893) were caused by deflation.
