George Romney walked out of the 1964 Republican Convention to protest nominating a candidate who voted against the Civil Rights Act. I do remember a CNN/YouTube debate in 2007 when someone asked a question sitting in front of a Confederate flag, and Mittens looked truly disgusted by it. I wouldn't vote for him (unless I lived in Utah and it was him or someone who made Mike Lee look like Bernie in comparison), but he's at least sane, and he will go down in history as the first Senator to ever vote to remove a President of his own party.

@williethomas5116 They were willing to sign on to the smaller voting rights bill, but neither was willing to cast a procedural vote to allow it onto the floor.

@Andie1951 Compared to the other Republicans, he is. However, because he is a Republican, that guarantees some positions on taxes, judges, and voting rights that are pretty bad. Even the ones who are more moderate go along with that stuff.
