+Nakita Kestler No, it was clear. They wanted US citizens to have access to arms. Even Jefferson supported citizens having the ability to own a warship.

+Nakita Kestler Well regulated means regular. So no, I am not ignoring that part

+Nakita Kestler In that era is did. The militia were the people. And it is quite clear that the people were to have rights to arms. We can go farther with this. Well regulated can mean controlled. The people are able to have control of the militia with their ability to have arms. Remember, the constitution starts with "we the people", but I guess you ignore that as well. By the way, I got a 96% on my US constitution test recently.

+Nakita Kestler How far are you willing to go with these regulations? That is my point. If you were to ask me randomly if I support background checks I would say yes. But my issue is that the topic gets brought up after a shooting. To me background check is the seed to gun confiscation. You may be against gun confiscation, but others will just keep adding laws until gun confiscation happens.

+Nakita Kestler "reasonable gun control" What is "reasonable"? That is what I am getting at. We need specifics and also we need assurance that after these "reasonable" laws are passed, and shootings still happen, that no more laws will be created. Look at magazine limits for example. People felt it was "reasonable" to ban 100 round drums (even though they are less efficient than 30 round magazines). But now we have areas in the country that placed even more limits on magazines. So when do the gun laws stop? And what is "reasonable"?

A nuclear bomb is not an arm. But even with that Jefferson wrote that he would support the people owning a warship. The musket argument is as dumb as it gets. Weapons have always advanced throughout history and to say that the founding fathers never saw a time where guns would get better is asinine. During the 1700s there were proposal for guns that could shoot multiple rounds in a short amount of times. Take the Girandoni air rifle or Belton Flintlock.

Stefan Molyneux said it right, no one supports gun control, they only support certain people having guns. In Cenk case it is the government.

It is clear, we have the right to keep and bear arms. The reason why is to establish a militia if needed to revolt against tyranny. No debate there. Cenk just lacks reading comprehension skills.

+Greenscyth22 In 1777 a gun was in the works that could fire around 50 rounds in around 5 minutes. A similar gun was given to Lewis and Clark by Thomas Jefferson.
