The vast majority of K-12 education is local funded. TYT needs to learn some facts.

+leonxl How am I an idiot? Ana is saying that a small portion of our federal tax dollars go to schools. There is a reason why. It is because schools are locally ran and funded. The same is with roads. Around 3/4 of funding for roads is at the state and local level. So her saying that we only pay X amount for schools, but all of this for the military is being deceptive at the very least, or not understanding how government functions.

+Sher Lock Lundquist There is a legit argument that they are hurting someone. People are working to no only pay food for themselves, but to also pay for other people's food.

+robert h True. In my local welfare office there are signs that tell people to not be on cell phones. I was there with a friend who was legitimately poor (I had to drive them to the place since they had no car and they was living with me due to not having any place to live). People on welfare had smart phones and better cars than me. It is kind of ridiculous.

+Andrew Weeraratne Walmart does not receive any federal money though.

+Andrew Weeraratne They may get a tax break but that is it. Also, that is up to the state and local government. Something like Medicaid is federal, so not really comparable.

+Andrew Weeraratne How does Walmart get trillions in welfare? Also the executives of Walmart are not earning $100 million bonuses.
1
+Andrew Weeraratne Other nations have debt as well. In fact, they have more. The reason why we have such huge debt is because of federal programs that are unconstitutional and a waste. One such program is our "safety nets".

+Andrew Weeraratne The top 6 executives of Walmart do not even earn $100 million. If you were to take the top 6 executive salaries and spread them evenly to the 225,000 employees of Walmart who earn $25,000 or less they will earn an extra $147 a year. That's it. The money is not there. They simply can't afford higher wages.

+Andrew Weeraratne Earlier comment "There are corporations that get trillions in welfare with their CEO taking home $100 million in bonuses." I can read just fine.
1
+Andrew Weeraratne My mistake, you didn't say Walmart. But it shows that CEOs are not earning $100 million in bonuses. What is "unlivable wage labor"? That is an undefined term in economics.
1
+Andrew Weeraratne "In most developed nations there are no working poor" No true.
1
+Andrew Weeraratne Those countries have no min. wage. So are you suggesting that if we removed the min. wage then we will have less working poor?
1
+Andrew Weeraratne Nope, you just showed that no min. wage led to higher wages.
