Because Bernie is an economic illiterate.

Nothing suggest that single payer is better than what the US has now nor that it is better than a free market system (the US does not have a free market system, we have a for profit system with government barriers). Single payer has its advantages, but also has many short comings. But the US has a strong system as well. There is not need to dismantle it completely for a single payer system when the best approach is to improve on what we have now. Bernie is an idiot.

D Money, you have to make choices. Nothing is ideal. I feel bad for people that have to make those choices but what do you suggest we do? Single payer has many shortcomings and causes other problems as well.

Bill, read that book I linked you. They run through the shortcomings. Some of them are lack of innovation and longer wait times along with rationing.

Chris, read the book I linked to Bill. They cover how much countries pay.

" but the rest of the first world say that socialism works, " "Works" is subjective and broad. I can fix a cockroach infestation in a home by blowing it up, that works. But is that the best solution? I can build a swimming pool by by digging a hole in my backyard with a spoon. It will take a long time but it will work. Is that the best solution? Saying something "works" does not mean anything until you compare it to something and put it in a certain perspective. Single payer has its advantages, but it also has its many shortcomings. You should also understand that nothing is in a vacuum. There are several reasons why socialism "works" in other countries. Norway funds their programs with oil. Denmark had mandatory military for years. Germany restricts who can go to college and who can't. So it isn't that simple.

The majority does not want single payer. Bernie's own state could not get single payer.

".If Bernie Sanders is an economic illiterate then why did about 100 economists endorse his progressive economic agenda when he ran for President last year?" They supported one part of his plan, not the entire plan. Even at that 100 economists is a minute amount. " approximately 45,000 of them dying every year because they cannot afford our expensive private healthcare" 45,000 people is around 0.01% of the nation, that is noise at that point. Those 45,000 people are poor to begin with and poor people are typically unhealthy due to personal choices and lack responsibility. You cannot say that they die only because of lack of access to healthcare. Also, even if they had access, what is the drawback? Again, we are talking about only 0.01% of the population.
1
"So do you not give a shit about approximately 45,000 people dying because they cannot afford our expensive private healthcare" No, I am saying that they did not die only because they lack access to healthcare. It is much more complicated than that. Also, what is the drawback in giving them access to healthcare? Single payer has its shortcomings. "even though half the country works full time Minimum Wage jobs" That is not true at all.

Seventh Son, in 2010 around 30,000 were killed in vehicle accidents a year. So what do you suggest we do? Ban driving or have the government transport us everywhere?
1
havocmaster69, but don't you care about the 30,000 a year that die? I mean, why do you hate people? And what about the poor people who can't own a car?
