  2. To show the success of the electoral college I will use three states, CA, NV and MO. CA is liberal in mainly the LA area and the Bay area. Remove those areas than CA is red. The issue is that those areas are so populated that they override the rest of the state. In NV it is blue in LV and Reno, again, major cities. The rest of the state is red. Problem is that the rural areas of NV have almost no one living there. Nye county is pretty much empty along with places like Goldfield. Now in MO the blue areas are the KC and St. Louis areas. The rest of the state is pretty much red. MO is red (mostly moderate, but red the past three presidential elections) because there are a lot of people living in the rural areas of the state as opposed to NV. And the KC and St. Louis areas are not so populated that they overtake the state like the LA and Bay area do in CA. That is the point of the electoral college. It prevented highly densely populated areas of the US from overtaking the country. It isn't so much that CA will take over but instead the LA area, Bay area, NYC area, Chicago.
