How destructive are these earthquakes? The number of earthquakes mean nothing, magnitude is important. We experience earthquakes all the time where I live. They are small so we don't care.

Kyle, more earthquakes are not a problem. Many happen in my area and we hardly notice them.

Fracking has not polluted water. http://www.pnas.org/content/108/43/E871.long http://www.pnas.org/content/108/20/8172.full

gimmethegepgun, the concern has been methane. No one talks of other contaminants because they are not a problem. Kevin says arsenic which is not an issue. Like methane was the arsenic there before or after the fracking?
2
Cheep Cheeps, methane has been leaking in the air and water long before fracking has occurred. That was the point of the articles I cited, no one can say that fracking is the cause of it. People have been able to set their water on fire decades before fracking. Also, the EPA has been incorrect on fracking in the past as they have given misleading and poorly collected data. As far as fracking being short lived? So what. It works now. We have to get the gas and oil somehow. There is not evidence of pollution from fracking, sorry.

Jace, what is more severe? A coworker stealing a piece of gum from you or a bank robbery? So if you want to use robbery as an example more people stealing gum is not a problem.
1
Jace, I am not saying that. Stealing gum is still robbery, just not as extreme compared to robbing a bank. A little tremor is nothing compared to something that is an 8 on the Richter scale.

caitiff52, over time every building gets weak for numerous reasons. You can argue the wind does it so it is just as bad as a tornado. Oklahoma is near fault lines and thus it is safe to assume their infrastructure is designed for minor earthquakes.
1
A5 Kobe, another poor comparison. A credit card scammer has the potential to steal more. You don't get the potential for high magnitude earthquakes with fracking.
1
Fracking is fine.
1
Jace, did you even read the papers I cited? I guess reading is challenging for you.

Melanoma Trump, how am I poorly educated?
1
Ex Animus, PNAS is a highly respected peer reviewed journal.
1
We don't know if fracking is the cause though.
1
In Canada they have seen no increase in earthquakes.

The number of earthquakes is meaningless, the magnitude is key.
