+Bu Selma At the federal level we have never lived in a democracy.

+Eero Haapala Trickle down economics is not an economic term. Anyone who cites it knows little about economics.

+Sweederland Johnson Trickle down economics is a political term designed to smear an opponent without looking into their policies. It is used by those who are ignorant in economics (supporters of those on the political left) or by those pulling wool over your eyes to win votes (politicians on the left). In your case you use it because you lack understanding of economics.

Consider this. More people are going to college. More people are pulling out college loans (which gives them negative wealth). After college they get a well paying job. So you are poor in college and rich afterwards. I see this is a positive.

+Tedteddy 07 Because the min. wage contributes to inflation.

+fred6319 There are other factors as well. But the min. wage is one of them. Anyway bottle water is a waste of money. And you have to consider that you just made a claim based off of the price of bottle water and that is it. If you want to talk about inflation consider that cars, computers, cell phones etc. are cheaper and better thus they have drop in price. You have to also realize that a wage is a price of labor. Something jobs have increased in price, some have dropped. Take the blockbuster employee for example, they are now worth $0/hr. Not everything inflates.

+fred6319 And Mr. Johnston is mistaken in several ways.

+Nick H "The rest of the western world has had unions, free or affordable healthcare and university education for a long time. " And with inferior results in most cases. Also I hate the comparison of the US to other countries. The US is completely different. We are talking about a difference in society, history, diversity. The US has more diversity than almost any other country, and comparing us to countries with populations than most of our states, and in some cases cities, it a weak argument. How do you know that Trump doesn't care about anyone? Bernie is a career politician. He is in his 70s that is finally running for president now. I see this as a retirement plan. If he loses he goes out making noise. He he wins he sits in the office, says his few talking points here and there, and enjoys the free job. "Most of the Republican party is full of extreme right leaning religious nutcases" No it isn't.
