  2. How is she unqualified? She will have very little, if any control on how education is ran. Most of that will be left up to the states. Her role is not to run education.

  3. The fact that she has never been in a public school nor was a teacher or educator means nothing. She is not going for the position of a principle or teacher. What she is going to push for is reducing the department of education and giving more autonomy to the states. Saying that she has no experience is asinine. Does the future CEO of Taco Bell have to work at Taco Bell first before they become the CEO? No.

  4. It is not a terrible analogy. The states control so much in education and the Trump administration wants to expand that. Even at that what she will be doing is working with governors and congress writing and passing bills to become laws and providing moral support. She actually will have very little power in her position.

  5. A major part of the problem is that the federal government is so involved with K-12 education to begin with. She will reduce that. Also, education across the entire nation is very vague as it is mainly ran by the states and local governments. She is mainly going to play the role of a psychologist working with congress and governors to fix problems. She is not going to be the one controlling education. Arne Duncan, by the way, put his kids in private schools.

  6. There is an expression that if you really like cooking to never own a restaurant because at that point you will be doing everything but cooking. The fact that DeVos never been to public education nor worked in it doesn't mean she is not qualified. No different than how someone who is a terrible cook is not qualified to manage a restaurant. It is a different skill set. She is not going to running K-12 education as the states do that.
