  1. If you were to cut the CEO pay to zero for almost all major companies their workers will not gain that much. For example, if you were to take all the money from the top 6 executives of Walmart and spread it to the 550,000 lowest paid employees they will earn an extra $147 a year, that's it.

  2. Jeffery, it isn't a false dilemma. Costco pays more because they have limited locations and hours. I live closer to two Walmarts than I do a Costco in my city. Walmarts are open 24 hours, Costco isn't. You can't really compare the two companies. I mean, Google pays more than Costco, why doesn't Costco pay as much as Google does? Also, due to limited hours and locations they have much less employees. Why no complaints about that? 1. Define "poverty wages". 2. Define "decent wages" 3. What? Let me take your cookie example. The CEO hires the immigrant and worker to turn 20 cookies into 20,000 cookies. Yes, the CEO takes 15,000, but now that worker and immigrant have 5,000.

  5. Jeffery, the immigrant and worker are only capable of producing that many cookies because the CEO was wise enough to see a demand in cookies and invest in it. They were able to organize a company to hire workers to manage the resources to create that much wealth. Sorry, but a lot of people are simply not intelligent enough or work hard enough to do what a CEO does.

  7. Jeffery, it isn't about being rich. Many business owners were not born rich. You have this mindset that rich people magically came up with the money and then invested it. In reality it is usually the other way around. They worked hard, got in debt and then became rich. Funny you brought up lottery winners. Over 70% go bankrupt. But I guess it is just luck that CEOs don't go bankrupt. Not intelligence and hard work, just luck.

  8. Jeffery, my points are hardly shut down. You just said CEOs have luck or have money first and then invest it. You literally have no clue what you are talking about. Jeff Bezos started Amazon out of his garage. Dan Snyder started a company out of his home selling tickets.

  9. Jeffery, Dan Snyder took out a second mortgage and maxed out credit cards to start one of his earlier businesses. He did not have the money, he took a risk and got in debt to create his business. That is how most businesses get started.

  10. Kryz Matic, you are looking at wealth, not income. Also, Walmart has to cater to shareholders. If the shareholders did not exist Walmart will be no bigger than Hy Vee or Raleys who pay their workers similar wages. Look at the salaries of the 6 executives of Walmart. I did not pull the out of my ass. They are legit. You, however, do not understand the difference between wealth and income and do not understand that shareholders is why Walmart is so big to begin with.

  12. DP_ , I have no clue where you get your stats. You bring in inflation. You do know there are multiple ways to measure inflation? If you use PCE or GDP deflator wages have actually outpaced inflation. This is something that bothers me about the ultra left. They claim to be so educate and smart but in reality they aren't. They have no clue how complex these issues are.

  14. DP_, you need to learn the difference between wealth and income if you want to discuss economics. Also, learn about inflation, the many methods in calculating it and the shortcomings in inflation calculations.

  15. DP_, I don't nitpick words as I make many typos myself. I look at the content. The top 10% earn 40% of the income. To say the top 1% (where many are not millionaires nor CEOs by the way) have most of the income is simply not true. I brought up the point on the left claiming to be so educated because I see many of them ignoring many factors in these situations. You are creating a conclusion that is over simplified. Is CEO pay rising fast? Yes. Is that bad? You have to consider a lot to make that conclusion. As I said, Jeff Bezos is very well off, but he made shopping much easier for the vast majority of the nation. I see no problem with that. Yes, he is far richer than me, but my life is far better as a result. The only complaint you are giving is CEO pay compared to worker pay. That is just one variable of many in this issue. Let me ask you this. Say a CEO of a company ended up earning 1000X more than his employees but that company he created developed a way to slash energy prices to 1/10 of what they are now? The fact that CEO is much richer may seem bad, but they would have saved the vast majority of the nation money on energy. You have to look at the entire issue and not one part of it.

For example, it has a difficult time accounting for technological changes. Take cars for instance. Yes, the sticker price on a car is higher today than it was in the past. But cars today last longer, get better gas mileage and are safer, all that saves money in the end. Take the internet and shopping. You may see that food may becoming more expensive. But you can look online and see if a store has a particular item you want before you go there instead of driving store to store waiting gas and time. If the voters agree why did Trump win?

  22. Lennon Gonzalez, exactly. The CEO organized that entire situation to make those cookies and sell them. Also, the person using the cooking example from the beginning is making the assumption that wealth is finite when in reality it can grow. If you were to ask me if I wanted 10% of a batch of cookies or 50% of another batch I would ask which batch was bigger. That needs to be considered. It isn't as easy as "well there are 20 cookies and the CEO took 19". There is more to it than that.

  25. You can't compare CEO pay to average worker as they are paid completely differently. Also, you should really compare CEO pay per worker. If a CEO is paid $1,000,000 a year and has 100 employees that are paid, on average, $10/hr expands a company 10 years later to 200 employees, whose average pay is $12/hr, and the CEO now earns $1.5 million a year, use the CEO is earning more than the average employee, but now they employ twice as many people when their pay has went up only half.

  26. The wage comparison to inflation is flawed as there are many flaws in inflation. Also, you have other methods of inflation such as PCE and GDP deflator that show wages have outpaced inflation. But don't expect TYT to give proper journalism.
