  1. MrMalcolm900, I can tell immediately this study is frivolous. Most people exist in many places on the political spectrum. For example, someone may be liberal on abortion but conservative on guns. Also, they use guns as an example. Me owning a gun is not out of fear, it is accepting reality that there are bad people in the world. Just like when I lock my doors at night, I am not scared, just accepting reality. It is a safety net, no different than how liberals want more government for protection as a safety net.

  3. Austin Schlepko, have you actually read the study? I doubt it. To give examples, though, leftists cannot fathom living in a world with less government and more personal freedom. For example, you debate with them on economic issues and many on the left, including Cenk, brings up the fire department. That we need more government because they provide things like fire departments. However, around 70% of fire fighters are volunteer, and most of them exist in rural, conservative areas. They don't live in the fear of less government. Leftists do. Also, look at the recent reaction to the Parkland shooting. The left is making it look like we are a nation with many mass shootings thus we need more gun control. Who is living in fear now? But again, read the study, I guarantee you it is coming up with a vastly more vague conclusion than what Cenk is presenting.

  6. LogiKaiser, I work,I have insurance. The healthcare issue is very complex. Other countries face many issue and are inferior in several ways to the US. To say they do it better is 100% false based on numerous studies. Read the book "The Business of Health" as a starting point. That is my suggestion for you.

You have TYT that shut down others they disagree with and you have many leftists who cannot see past their utopia of LA and NYC. There are many intelligent people on the right, Turmp being one of them. The fact you call him unintelligent is projection on your part. Every president in the history of this country is intelligent.   9. Didn't read the study but I can dismiss this for many reasons. There are too many variables involve to make this strong of a relationship. To start, very few are purely conservative or liberal, most are near the center politically. Next, it all comes down to how you define these standards. Paul Nail uses gun control to support why conservatives tend to live in fear. However, I can easily argue the opposite, that liberals live in fear. They are scared of people owning guns and thus want control and want to manage lives. Where conservatives accept reality realizing that there will always be bad people and thus individuals should have the ability to protect themselves. One can argue either side to this. I find this study to be rather frivolous.

They are doing so out of fear. "How many gun owners use fear of crime to carry guns? " Is it fear or an acceptance of reality? When I lock my doors at night am I scared or accepting reality that someone might try to break in? When I use a seat belt am I in fear or accepting reality that an accident might happen? There is a difference. There are bad people out there, that is reality. I should be able to protect myself. I don't live in fear, I just want that safety net. How is that different than leftists wanting safety nets established by the government?

Shootings, and gun violence as a whole have been declining for over 20 years. It is living in fear thinking you are in danger going to school, and that danger is so great you have to march to change something. "But when people who are gun nuts, carry guns it's an acceptance of reality? " Yes, because while I don't carry my gun due to gun laws preventing me on campus, I am willing to leave my home and know my chances of being shot are very slim. That I can go my entire life and never experience a shooting. However, they can happen, and it is nice to have a safety net.

  14. Lavia, shootings are very rare in this nation. In a country of 320+ million people you will have shootings. But reality is that shootings are very rare and other nations experience shootings as well. This is a fact you cannot debunk unless you severely move the goal posts.

  16. Deborah Alden, 1. The equipment and buildings are a drop in the bucket. To add I know many small towns that have no stop signs. There are many rural places that in order for a road to get cleared after snow one of the locals have to hook up their plow and do it. 2. John Lott released a study showing that other nations like France and Norway have higher rates of mass shootings. He did it by comparing apples to apples because comparing a gang related shooting to a school shooting like Sandy Hook is not valid. One is an issue of gangs.

When leftists hold women's march that is not based on fear of losing rights? Both sides have fear and greed of some kind. And for leftists have superior minds, I can give many examples of that not being true. In reality at the very core the political left is driven on emotions and the political right is driven on facts and reasoning. On most issues when you go deep into them you see that.
