nanook north But production does not go up. People making more money but production does not go up means prices go up.

nanook north How is the company going to produce more? If a company is only producing say 100 widgets per hour, and people have more money, they will still only produce 100 widgets per hour. Same as with individuals, if that workers is only producing 20 widgets per hour, and you pay them more, they will only produce 20 widgets per hour. They are now getting paid more to do the same work.

nanook north I know, but companies can only produce so much. If the cost outweighs the benefits, such as the cost of production is higher than profits than a business will simply not produce. Economics 101 bro.

nanook north Mathematically they can't though.

Cynthric The minimum wage is at an all time high.

GiveGoogle+YourPersonaLinfo It is called "skilled biased technological change". Some jobs lost value, some has remained stagnate, some has gained value and some jobs are just not around anymore. Chance are your grandpa had a high skill job at the time but his job is no longer around anymore. Also as technology improves so should goods and services and prices should drop. Clothes and food are more expensive due to the min. wage being at an all time high.

Miranda N You look at pay ratio but do so in a deceptive way. How many people does Walmart employ? If you were to take all the money the CEO of Walmart made and spread it around to all the workers of Walmart they will earn less than an extra dollar an hour. Simply put the money is not there. So what do you accomplish by cutting CEO pay of Walmart? In one word.....nothing.

Miranda N The workers do have control over the surplus, the issue being is that they don't produce that much. If the workers wanted to decide then they should be come shareholders, work for a smaller company, or become the boss of one. Basically what you are supporting is similar to the players running the team instead of the coach. That simply does not work on a large scale.
