  2. Travis, you are a pre-med student. Assuming you finish med school you will be earning a lot later. You are taking the correct approach in college. It is those who get worthless degrees like business or gender studies and those who go to expensive colleges that mess up and cry later. That is something ultra liberals fail to understand.

  4. Compare K-12 public schools in terms of quality of facilities to colleges. There is a reason why college facilities are so great, it is because of the tuition. There is an advantage for that with students in terms of moral and leisure and increased productivity.

  5. Actually it shows how ignorant those on the ultra left is, or how they love to cherry pick things. They always point to other countries in how they are supposedly successful in implementing programs like this. But they fail to realize everything those countries do.

  7. speedy 1. There are plenty of programs for the poor to be able to afford college. Also, it seems like we have a problem with our K-12 system with what you described. How about we fix that as opposed to giving the government more control in education, the same government who is offer a low quality K-12 education 2. Everyone does something for profit. We need more people going to college in the STEM fields. Instead we have people who are going to college for their own enjoyment (their profit) but want others to pay for it. 4. (where is three??). Supply and demand. We lack professors, TAs, tutors, dorms, classrooms, etc. Universities will raise tuition prices. This program will either bankrupt NY or make the quality of college education there to be very poor.

  9. Deon, defense spending is less than 4% of GDP. Look at how much we pay in education for federal, state and local. It will be higher than 4% of GDP. These numbers are out there for anyone to see. I will leave you to look them up yourself. If you can't than "tuition free" college won't help you at this point.

  11. The US has a way better university system than other countries. There is a reason why we have so many international students.
