  1. We spend a lot of money on defense because we spend more money preventing violent conflict. Conflict will always exist so we have to prevent violence. Also, military members are trained to the point that they are worth more in the private sector then in the military so they have to do the best they can to keep them. That is why there is high defense spending.

  2. The main reason why the economy did well was because both sides worked together. Reagan raised taxes with a democrat congress but also spending was cut and he was firm against unions. Clinton raised taxes in the beginning but when the republicans took over and his healthcare bill was stopped they worked together and once again spending was cut and the economy did well. After 9/11 the economy slipped but the tax cuts helped it grow.

  3. That is it, raise taxes. Never mind responsibilities we will just raise taxes. And when the price of healthcare goes up they will raise taxes again. That is the liberal answer. Never mind it will hurt the economy.

  4. The only federal tax should be a tax on the states based on population like it use to be. Police, fire, infrastructure are all state issues. So a president raising taxes is actually removing money away from those programs.

  5. .....when marriage isn't a right and it isn't something the federal government should be involved in. Creating a mess isn't being progressive. Liberals feel that all past laws are bad and all future laws are good. Future laws usually mean more government when government is typically the problem to begin with. I myself am more progressive and liberal then self proclaimed liberals. I accept others and don't discriminate against groups of people like the rich. I don't establish laws to arrest......

  6. Bush cut taxes after 9/11 when the economy slipped and the economy did well. What crashed the economy was unstable spending from the housing market and the bail outs. Clinton initially raised taxes but what help the economy was when the republicans took over and they worked together to have manageable spending. Raising taxes does not help the economy, it only hinders it. You can get away with it if the raise was small and you have manageable spending.

  7. I guess Cenk wasn't listening. People that were complaining about losing their liked their plan. Why should I have to be forced to pay for a plan I don't want? I don't need contraceptives or mental care. Also, where is the money for theses subsidizes going to come from? The money has to come from somewhere. Liberals have no clue how it works.

  8. How are liberals informed? It always amazes me how unprogressive progressives really are. Look at policies they support. Min. wage increase hinders the chance for someone of low skill to find work, develop a skill and progress themselves. Socialize healthcare hinders the healthcare market from progressing and establishing better quality of care. Higher taxes hinder businesses from progressing and growing creating more jobs. Progressives feel they are that way because they support gay marriage...

  9. The main thing is that the government can't be a mess. Raising taxes never helps the economy but one can get away with it if the government is consistent and doesn't waste money like it has under Obama. When Reagan and Clinton raised taxes one, Reagan had tax cuts, another the money wasn't wasted. Obama wants to raise taxes to build websites that simply don't work or fund another Sylondra (sp) or help unions. Investors hate that thus the economy suffers. And I am a moderate, not a conservative.

  10. ......people if they don't pay taxes to pay for others who don't work. I don't cater to certain groups of people but treat everyone as equals. The GOP isn't dying and you will see come 2016 that it will be strong because by that time democrats won't have a good record to run on.
