You are over simplifying the issue. You can't just say that one guy earns as much as X amount of min. wage workers. Money does not have finite value. If those min. wage workers were to get that money the value of those dollars would be less.

+Barny Elbourn I know what he is suggesting, I am saying he is wrong. You can't just take money that is invested and give it away.

+Barny Elbourn Wealth does not equal income. Also money being used does not mean it is invested. I can spend all my money right now at the strip club and liquor store and gain essentially nothing. Now expand that on the massive scale. If we spend money digging holes in the desert we develop no wealth and thus the money is wasted.

+intecrisis Money just doesn't sit in banks. Banks use that money to give out to others for loans as in home loans or starting a business. That is how they are able to pay interest in saving accounts and checking accounts. "but like usual idiots like you make assertions with no evidence or thought to back it up." Says the person who doesn't know how banks functions.

+The Dirt I am not talking about a business paying someone, I am talking about the government setting an arbitrary amount of what someone is worth. " especially with how bad our public education system is" And we keep dumping money in it. The creation of the department of education in the late 70s did nothing to improve education. "Whereas if I hoard it in my bank account so I can buy influence on demand" You also clearly don't understand how banking works.

A bank is typically not going to make poor loans to someone who is going to waste the money unless the government forces them to (see housing crisis). So typically, unless by forced by the government, money loaned out by banks is invested. People have to pay that loan back. " ignores the liquor store doing better giving them more money to put into becoming a chain or a local brewery " What if the person buying the liquor is an alcoholic that hardly works? "digging holes in the desert will still create jobs if people are willing to pay for the holes" That's the key, if people are willing to pay for it. " Anyway putting the money directly into the hands of the consumer class helps the economy directly." Not if there isn't any wealth being created. "Our problem has been that despite higher productivity per worker than ever before the pay and benefits have either stagnated or lowered at nearly all levels but the top." That is not true at all. Pay has been fine and increase productivity, due to technology, has led to lower prices and better goods and services.
