Toll roads are the best roads you can drive on. This video itself said that the government built roads fell apart over time because the government did not maintain it. So why allow the government to rebuild it? It seems like government failed in this one.

Gizmo, the guys in this video even admitted that government failed as the government funded roads fell apart and were not maintained. So what is your solution? Allowing government to fail again?

Gizmo, defense spending has been falling, in terms of percent GDP, for around 20 years at least. Defense spending is all federal. Most spending on roads is state and local. "Any private road will mean toll's which increases the costs both for people and businesses" Toll roads are some of the best roads you can find. The Turnpike in KS is great with high speed limits and no potholes. So you can transport goods faster with less damage to your vehicle. Right now there are roads that do a lot of damage to vehicles. There are roads that are no big enough for the current traffic. Drive the 680 in south bay around 4 pm. You won't go fast. What is costing more money? Tolls or damages to vehicles, longer delivery times and wasting gas while sitting in traffic? " And it's not like private enterprise has a stellar reputation for maintaining their facilities." This infrastructure argument exist because the government has not been maintaining their roads. What makes you think they will now? You point to private prisons while we are talking about roads now. Even at that I have not seen anything that suggests private prisons are failing.

" Well do the prisons solve your crime problem? " That is an issue with our justice system along with other programs. All prisons do is give a place to house criminals. "If you don't see something wrong with making money from incarcerating people then there's something wrong with you. " That is not an argument. "Also, it doesn't matter what percentage of GDP is spent on the military, it's what percentage of your budget." It does matter what percentage of our GDP we spend as it compares it to the total finances of our economy. "It's half" It is less then 20%. We spend more on social welfare programs.

Those tolls maintain the roads. The guys in this video themselves said that government failed at maintaining the roads.

Things have lifetimes. You need resources in order to keep things working. They said it in this video, the roads and bridges are breaking down. Why? Because the finances do not exist to keep them maintained. It seemed like government failed in this case.

steven talik, the roads the government built are falling apart. They even said that in this video. So why do you want the government to build them again? So they can just let them rot again? The guys in this video actually argued in favor of privatization as they said the government built roads were not maintained and fell apart. Government failed. So your solution is to allow government to control the situation again?

Most funding for roads comes at the state and local level already.

Yeah, the highway system built by the government was not maintained. So why allow them to rebuild it? Things have lifetimes and have to be maintained. Apparently government failed based on this video.

Amy, most spending on roads comes at the state and local level. From what I can tell spending on transportation has been constant for years, as in keeping up with inflation. The problem is that with roads you are dealing with steal and concrete where the price varies and you can't predict, accurately how much things will cost. On top of that when dealing with the government you have inefficiencies. Look up the situation with CC Myers in San Fran and how that private company got the 880 rebuilt in less then a month. That is how private companies, with a profit motive, act. Government without a profit motive are sluggish and let things fall apart. Now guess what Trump supports?

6Texasboi, the vast majority of funding for roads is state and local. Also, defense spending has been falling for around 20 years.

Kevin, defense spending is around 4% of GDP. We spend more on education.

Trump has made ultra liberals like TYT go crazy. Watching them freak out on a daily basis has become entertainment. Even though I voted for Gary Johnson I wanted Trump to beat Clinton knowing that ultra liberals were going to freak out and act like they are now.

Sketch Wurdz, you need to learn the difference between wealth and income. This is not to be rude but until you learn that difference you can't discuss economics.

MrCarter'sRods, "trickle down economics" is not an economic term. It is a political termed used by politicians to appeal to economic illiterates or economic illiterates themselves. Now which are you? Are you an economic illiterate or a politician?
