Universal healthcare can be viewed as slavery.

***** They are paid that much because of their high skill, high demand and low supply.
2
***** You never did the work to obtain a degree like that, have you?
2
***** Again, if you attempted to work on a degree like that you would see the work and stress.
2
"Psst, we ain't in the 1930's. This is 2016 and we are talking about America." Ah, the old "Its (insert year hear) thus (insert some issue that for some arbitrary reason should magically be solved)"
2
Lou, if you over regulate a company then that business owner will just refuse to start up a business. That means no jobs and no wealth. Enjoy the race to the bottom.
2
A teacher is a government worker, that is a bad example. Also, I like how this guy says studies show that regulations increase jobs. How about he list them. Let the viewers read up on them and decide for themselves.
1
That can all be done at the state level. Education is already done at the state level.
1
Kevin, most companies create their own safety regulations.
1
Kevin Montrond Clearly you haven't worked very many jobs. Companies create their own safety regulations that protect the workers. I have a lot in my job due to the Class 4 LASERs we use. My dad works in a factory with a lot of lead in the air. They provide all the safety equipment they need and force their workers to take showers before leaving the premises. When I worked at a warehouse every day they mentioned safety regulations. Companies don't want to see their workers get hurt. Having a worker get hurt hinders production during that time.
1
Kevin Montrond If they don't care about their worker then no one will work for them.
1
Kevin Montrond And those workers get compensated very well.
1
Kevin Montrond They do get held accountable. If someone gets hurt then that hinders production. If the company is that dangerous then no one will work for them.
1
Kevin Montrond Yes, they do get someone else. Several companies do that. But at that moment production will be down and companies want to avoid that as well. There are dangerous jobs that have to be done. If a company won't compensate you for it they won't get anyone to do it.
1
Kevin Montrond In situation two you will get fired. How about you take measures to not break your leg. If I blind myself with a LASER I will get fired. I take precautions to prevent that.
1
Kevin Montrond Yes, you broke your leg. That is your fault. You are making it sound like the company hit them with a sledge hammer.
1
Kevin Montrond So it is the company's fault that someone is stupid?
1
Kevin Montrond If a company has that dangerous of a working conditions then no one will work for them.
1
Kevin Montrond Some jobs are dangerous by their nature, and typically those workers are compensated very well. Also, those companies take actions to lower the chance of an accident. My dad works at a factory with a lot of lead in the air. They provide him with a respirator that he doesn't have to wear, but still does. They require him take a shower before he leaves the premises. They pay their workers, starting, $26/hr. And they monitor their blood to see if they have too much lead. They fire any worker that does due to the risks. Yes, there are dangerous jobs. Companies take actions to limit the dangers.
1
Kevin Montrond If you had a company like that than no one will work for them. That is an unnecessary danger that can be limited. Just like how the company my dad works for gives him a respirator and a lot of safety equipment. But if you had a company that wasn't trying to limit dangers than no one will work for them.
1
Kevin Montrond It doesn't happen everyday.
1
Kevin Montrond If it happened everyday than the government regulations are proving to be a waste.
1
Kevin Montrond Then why doesn't the government, that we pay our tax dollars to, stop it?
1
Kevin Montrond You are literally saying that despite the law and regulations businesses don't follow them. Seems like a waste of money to me. Seems like we can do away with groups like OSHA to save tax dollars and businesses will still act the same.
1
Kevin Montrond Nope, I am saying that even with the option of not following the law companies still take measures for safety.
1
Kevin Montrond Is the sanitation necessary? A lot of these regulations are pointless and become a waste.
1
Kevin Montrond Go to some of our K-12 schools, they are hardly sanitized and people are fine. Develop a better immune system. You are micromanaging here at this point.
1
SlayerofFiction Ok, where?
1
The Zero Zero We lack doctors, nurses, pharmacists, researchers, etc. So the only way you can provide healthcare to all is if you 1. force those workers to work harder 2. lower the quality
1
Heads Tails How do you recruit more? They don't exist. That's the barrier. People are not willing to put in the work to earn an advanced degree, especially in that field. And pay them more? For what? So they can work 12+ hours a day and not enjoy that money? It is not a straw man, it is a legit problem.
1
Heads Tails I guess we can pay them more so they can retire early. Thus even less doctors.
1
Heads Tails How about you attack the content of the comment and not the grammar. I am getting a PhD in physical chemistry, not English.
1
Heads Tails Also, how do we train more if 1. people don't want to put in the work 2. we lack professors, TAs, tutors and skilled workers in universities? Someone has to provide these services. No matter how much you raise taxes, if no one is there to provide these services we simply won't have them.
1
***** Because if you did you will realize how challenging it is.
1
***** Lots of people work hard. Some careers require more work.
1
The Zero Zero You can't say that it works in other nations because when you look at the numbers they are facing just as many problems as the US. https://www.aei.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/-the-business-of-health_110115929760.pdf
1
Heads Tails Did you actually read the book? it is written by two professors that cite peer reviewed journals. But I guess it is easier to make logical fallacies.
1
Ed, states run K-12 education. Also, the federal standard is CCSS created by Obama and his team. Over 40 states use that standard.
1
Nature Boy Teacher unions are killing the educational program in the US. It is time to, at the very least, reform it.
1
Nature Boy Nope, that is based off of unions wanting to pay teachers simply based off of experience instead of actual need and skills.
1
Nature Boy It has nothing to do with funding. Most high risk schools receive more money due to Title I programing. The problem is that why would a teacher take on that challenge when they can work at a school in a neighborhood with higher income? You get better students and get paid the same.
1
Nature Boy Title I schools receive more funding than other schools. Funding isn't the issue.
1
You can blame unions for that.
1
***** Unions have become greedy.
1
***** They became greedy and asked for more money and benefit then what they are worth. Eventually the company will leave.
