So she is a billionaire and a Christian, and that is supposed to make her bad?

"Education makes you naturally atheist, sorry if truth hurts." Not really. More agnostic if anything. As a man pursuing his doctorate in physical chemistry I realize that I can't be atheist and lean towards agnostic. So on, that doesn't hurt. I find your comment to be rather asinine.

" She believes public school teachers are overpaid" I reality there is a lot of truth there.

This guy is is an idiot. This woman can't turn public into what he thinks. States control the K-12 curriculum. There is nothing she can do. That is why it has been left out of the conversation because it is a non-issue.

Barry, not every state adopts CCSS. I do agree, though that the democrats did push for more power at the federal level. It is funny how liberals live that until republicans gain power. Now they are shaking in their boots worrying about losing their healthcare and their education becoming indoctrination camps and so on.

As a public school teacher you should understand that as a whole she can't.

Ray, calling her a billionaire is the strategy that is used to make her look bad. No different than when TYT create race baiting titles. The ultra left hate millionaires and billionaires.

Abe, it is far more complicated than that. Nobody really thinks that Europe is a mess. Several, including me, feel that it is not really any better than the US. Now considering how the US has states with larger populations than several of the countries in Europe, it is rather amazing how the US can be as successful as it is with our large diversity and several issues we deal with.

"What I really want to point on is mostly that their healthcare, education and worth ethics (leaning towards their workers sanity and health instead of just the bottom line) has been doing fine for them and nearly none of those countries even think about going to our system. " Saying they are "doing fine" is pushing for mediocrity. Sure they are "doing fine", but why can't we push for better? Also, they do face problems. https://www.aei.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/-the-business-of-health_110115929760.pdf That book does show how other countries face problems as well with healthcare where people do die.

I will never say that other countries are failures. I am just saying they are not doing as great as others say they are. What is going on with them is different.

Nope, I understood the point of the video. One, she can't do what this guy is claiming. State run K-12 education and set the curriculum. Next, him calling her a billionaire and a Christian is done in a way to make her look bad, like calling someone a murderer or a rapist. Somehow her being a billionaire and a Christian is supposed to make her bad.

" disadvantaging working class children and indoctrinating children into a religion" Which is not going to happen. Do you even know now little the federal department of education is involved in K-12 education? The vast majority of funding is done at the state and local level along with how curriculum is set. She has little power to begin with.
1
"No- the fact that her family donated 200 million to the Republicans and then she was given a position she is not only inexperienced in, she also seems ignorant about public schools." So she became successful and decided to donate her money. I have no problem with that. She has experience in managing finances which is greatly needed in our country. As a whole, you really need to learn how little power the department of education has in the US. She is not a problem.

If this woman was a poor atheist than TYT will be praising her.

I am pretty sure they do. In reality Betsy can't do what this bald man is saying. The states run K-12 education. Trump's cabinet is pushing for more state rights which is in the Constitution.

There are around 7 states that don't adopt CCSS. States don't have to use federal standards. And most money from the federal government given to school are to at risk schools (Title I schools). That is pretty much it. States and local government do most of the funding for schools. The federal government will enforce some minor things such as Title IX for example. But in reality this video is over the top.

waterandafter, most federal funding for for Title I schools. That is pretty much it. Also, states don't have to adopt federal standards. In reality, hearing what Trump and his cabinet members say I feel they won't set any to begin with since they push for state rights.

Michael, I didn't change my tone. States don't have to adopt federal standards. They can create their own curriculum. Even ones that do pick up those standards they do so in a very vague way. In my state we follow both CCSS and NGSS. Even at that it is very vague how we do it. I work at many schools as a substitute and in some I see them teaching from the CCSS lesson plans where others they don't.
