It takes a lot of intelligence to be able to properly read charts and graphs. It is a sign of lack of intelligence when you need things spelled out for you in many words.

Milo, I agree 100%. I have stated that being able to properly read charts and graphs is a sign of intelligence. I do it all the time as a doctoral student to quickly determine if a paper is worth reading or not. Trump, as a business man, knows how to read charts and graphs and knows that is all he needs.

V H, theses are briefings. Briefings are short and to the point. Charts and graphs allows for that and can give a lot of information. What you have to realize is that a great manager will hire people beneath them to take care of the details and micromanage along with giving them freedom. It works very well. Using my grad studies for an example professors will hire post-docs to manage the lab and the adviser will hardly step foot in the lab. He may get briefings that are simply figures. The president is not micromanaging the departments unless if he really needs to. Now you may say that will cause a problem, but at the same time if Trump were to try to micromanage everything then he will become over worked and that too will cause a problem. If you work too hard your productivity becomes negative. There is that as well. To expect Trump to do everything is asinine. He won't. No president has ever done that. They hire people beneath them to manage those departments. All he needs are briefings. If something major happens he will take care of it. But trusting the people you hire and giving them autonomy is what great managers do. Trying to micromanage things is not the approach you want to take.

So? A lot can be said about charts and pictures. If you know how to properly read a chart and graph that is all you need in a lot of cases. When I get a published paper the first things I look at are the references and figures. From that I can tell a lot about the paper. When I publish papers I work hard on the figures to make them look eye appealing to attract readers. This is for my doctoral work by the way.

Shark, how is Trump stupid? Because he can read charts and graphs? I am a doctoral student and I will tell you that I can determine a lot about peer reviewed paper just from the figures alone. When I get a paper the first things I look at are the figures and references. If you know how to properly read charts and graphs that is all you need in many cases. People who are idiots need everything spelled out for them.

beethovensbeloved, from what I have seen he isn't explaining it to the American people. The reality is that information given to the public comes from other sources. You have this false idea that the president is the one out there making all the decisions and giving all the information out to the people. That isn't so. He hires people beneath him to do that. Those briefings are just that, briefings to give him a run down on what is happening. If he needs more details and is going to present it to the American people he will obtain that information. You are looking like this is the first time you have ever followed politics.

kaelib, i can tell you are young and don't understand much. The president does not make every decision. Presidents hire people to run different departments and only takes actions in egregious situations. Let me give you an example with my grad studies. The department chair of my department (chemistry) has little idea of what I do for work. My adviser does and the chair has a general idea of my adviser's interest and what he does, but he does not have specifics. He basically make sure that my adviser is producing something. My adviser knows exactly what I am doing. Now expand to the next level, the dean of the college of science. He does not know specifically what the department is doing besides chemistry. That's it. I have never met the dean nor does he know me. He does not know my research or knows what my adviser does. While overall he is the boss above all of us he does not do anything. He could is something egregious happens, but that's it. He lets the department chair handle the department and the chair lets my advisor handle me. It is the same with the CIA. Mike Pompeo gives Trump the briefing. Trump is not running the CIA, Pompeo is. Just like John O. Brennan was running the CIA under Obama. You have this false idea that Trump controls everything. He doesn't. No president does. He has a lot on his plate and briefings are all he needs. He is given them once a week to create a paper trail if needed and if needed he can be given something with more details.
