  2. Harry Stoddard Single payer has just as many problems as the US system.  Also, the US is in massive debt and has over 320 million people. It isn't that simple.  Two states could not even implement it.

  4. Harry Stoddard Less than 20% of our federal spending is on defense, which is actually constitutional. Those welfare programs aren't. So I agree, our priorities are not correct.  We need to cut social programs. What is wrong with tax cuts?  Tax increases don't necessarily mean more revenue.  If it did than why not a 100% tax rate?

  5. Harry Stoddard You are cherry picking, you need to look at all federal spending. Defense spending is less than 20% of the federal budget.  Most of the budget are social programs. Nobody paid that 90% tax rate.  In 1967 there were 155 Americans who earned over $200,000 that paid $0 in federal income taxes.  One was earning around $20 million. That is why we had the tax reform bill of 1969. Tax cuts do not necessarily reduce anything.  What is bigger, 10% of 1,000,000 or 50% of 100? Social programs do not do anything at the federal level besides promote waste and hinder economic growth.
