  8. It doesn't work on the large scale. Eventually people will become lazy and entitled. When you run out of wealth than society does not grow. For example, with "free college". We lack professors, TAs, tutors and other skilled workers. Who is going to provide it? Are any of the supporters of socialism going to do that?

  9. In my university we are increasing enrollment by a lot. As a result we are short professors and TAs. We are hiring undergrads as TAs and people who do not know the topic as TAs. We recently hired a computers science major and a biology major to teach physics labs. Those students are not getting the proper education they paid for. But we had to put a warm body up there. We are increasing classroom sizes and running students through like cattle. Another issue is that we lack apartments and thus rent is going up at a fast rate and any land available to build on is going up as well. Those college students have to live somewhere. The problem with socialists is that they only look at money. They say "well there is money here and here, so if we just raise taxes and allocate these funds than bam, we have free college." But socialists do not look at the real goods and services that need to be provided. We can throw as much money as we want at universities, but if there isn't anyone to teach the courses, what do you gain? On top of that, how many Bernie supporters want to be professors and teach at colleges?

  10. R. m, you asked for an example and I gave you one. The college loan program allowed more students to attend college. What did colleges do? Increase classroom sizes and raise tuition. That is not anecdotal evidence as that has been happening nation wide. Because in 1965 was when the Federal Direct Student Loan Program was created. Since then tuition has gone up. You increase demand without increasing supply than prices go up. It is that simple. So you can complain about my example all you want. I will ask you these two questions How do you make up for the fact that we lack professors, TAs, and tutors? How about you give me examples of socialism working on a large scale?

Look at the quality of the buildings alone. Our high schools are falling apart while our colleges are thriving. Also, it requires more skills to teach at a university than a high school. That leads back to colleges lacking professors and TAs. Also, in regards to TAs being students, they are grad. students. They teach and manage undergraduates and have more responsibilities. Asking undergrads to take that on is a lot. One of our undergrads is struggling right now. "but I suspect your schools funding needs to be raised" Again, the people do not exist. When someone with the skills do not exist you can't hire them, period. That is what I said earlier in how socialist only look at money. If all it took was more money than people would support it. The reality is that it is a lack of goods and services. And if no one is going to provide the goods and services than it does not matter how much money you have.

  13. Compare it to high school. My high school only taught French and Spanish as a foreign language because those were the only teachers we had. We had no AP courses because, as a small town, we did not have anyone to teach them. A socialists solution would be to spend more money and somehow, magically those teachers will appear. Someone who understands economics realizes those are the teachers we have and we deal with it.

But business or liberal arts, than no. I am taking graduate level business administration courses and without taking any other business course and only have a degree in physics and one in chemistry, I have a 100% in the course. It is easy. Next, K-12 education is "free" for all. After that you should have some ability to learn through other means without the government. " Part of the reason you have dilapidated public schools, crumbling infrastructure is because of a severe misallocation of capitol." I would agree to a point. "Right now...you spend more than half of your discretionary spending on the military" But only around 3% of our GDP. We spend more on education. "to slaughter people half way round the world " Most conflict is settled off of the battlefield. "Obama nearly doubled the national debt" I agree is a problem. " Mostly on useless war and continuing to bail out banks, hedge funds, equity managers" I also agree that is a problem. "If the economy were truly "free", these banks would have went under...as they should have." I agree. " Now...you have a completely manipulated economy that has failed completely to SERVE THE PEOPLE. Why can't you see this? " I see it, and I agree. "The US is heading for a crash like nothing you've ever seen. " I don't think so.

  16. Bernie wants the federal government to run your healthcare and college education. Now while you may support that, look at what Trump and the Republicans are doing. Do you want them to have that much power? Bernie is only one guy.
