This is the problem of these programs. The people involved are poor and they are poor for a reason. How many of these people actually take care of these homes? This is why these social programs fall apart, it caters to the lazy who produce nothing and can actually lead to destruction.

Kavius, it does not take much effort to keep a home clean and prevent ruining it. Compare it to a car. You do routine oil changes, do not over rev the engine, let it warm up when it is cold, and do not drive it hard in general and it will last a while. With a home. Clean up after yourself. Keep the place organized. Do not slam the doors or beat things, and do minor repairs on your own and you will be fine. I keep my apartment nice looking and never had many problems. The biggest one was when the dishwasher leaked and when the garbage disposable, which was so old, fell off the sink. Beyond that the place has been fine.

Junkman2000, I am a doctorate student working on my PhD. That is why I am living in an apartment as grad students are not paid a high salary. But I guess according to you it should be one extreme or the other.

elgie, I came from a poor family and I have student loans. Right now I get my grad studies paid for as a TA. "hasn't had to work multiple part time jobs for low wages to get through school. " I have worked many jobs and still do work. I substitute teach on the side for extra income. "Otherwise they would have been exposed to other people who are unable to go to college yet work hard" I work at many Title I schools and see the main reason why they do not attend and finish college is because they are lazy. "It's hard to feel like cleaning house when you work and go to university, or when you work 2 full time jobs." No it isn't. Plus, if you are working that hard you are hardly home to begin with thus it should not get that dirty.
