  1. No politician really takes the day off.  They are always trying to win and ideally do what is best for their area the represent. Anyway, it is actually good that they don't pass new laws.  Do you really want more laws that the government can use to repress us more?  To me this is a success.  Not to mention that the republicans spent time opposing Obamacare to the fullest.  Now that it is a mess of a law people will know next election who really was for Obamacare and who was against it. A more important point is that the president sets the tone in Washington.  There will always be disagreement but when you have a leader that does nothing themselves it is hard to get anything done.  Some decent leadership would help in this case.  You can blame congress all you want but Clinton did a great job in working with a republican congress.
