  1. Psych evaluations are not the answer. You are deputizing doctors at that point and any minor red flag would prevent someone who has not done anything wrong from getting a gun. You can look at my past and if you really knew me would feel I had red flags which could be justification for removing my second amendment rights. As is I have 4 guns and zero intentions of ever shooting anyone. I have a clean criminal record. Also, if someone comes up as mentally ill in the psych test then why stop at guns? Why not monitor them 24/7, or just throw them in jail? How far are you willing to go here? The waiting period, or cool down period has been shown to not help at all. And we can't just ban guns from people on the terror watch list when they haven't done anything.

  8. If you have been diagnosed with a certain mental illness such as been to the doctor, got treatment, been placed on medication and so on then sure. But we can't do it by simply giving people a test. Even at that all the most recent mass shootings would have still happened so it is almost a moot point.

  9. Republicans proposed an alternative plan to the watch list. People on the watch list have a waiting period where a judge determines if they are a terrorist or not. It is all about due process. You can't just strip rights away from people unless they have done something wrong or is a threat in any way.

This is why democrats, and mainly regressive liberals only bring up gun control after a mass shooting. At any other time the facts are too strong against them. After a mass shooting emotions start to over power facts so they have the ability to get something passed.
