Who watches either one of those shows?  They are both dumb.  Also, looking at incomes, there has to be more to it than what you think.  The Daily Show caters to a more left leaning audience who are more urban where it is more expensive to live.  They could be making more money based on cost of living alone where Bill O'Reilly caters to more towards rural families who live in areas where cost of living is lower.

Adam Rose Look at any election map.  Democrat support is from more urban areas where republican support tends to come from more rural areas.  It is more expensive to live in an urban area than a rural area.  Now one can due some research in seeing income and voting play hand and hand but knowing where the support comes from and the cost of living from those areas that is how one can determine left leaning people live in areas of higher cost of living.

Define success.  Is it money?  One show caters to fans who most likely live in urban areas and O'Reilly caters to fans who live in rural areas.  Cost of living of their audience could be a factor.  I don't like either show and I am not defending anyone.  I am just saying that these are very shallow statistics that anyone with any intelligence can see.
