It isn't so much freedom of speech. It is that 1. is this a proper topic to discuss in the course 2. if a student were to challenge her in an intelligent way how would she react I had a professor like that who would not accept my challenge in a debate. To me, that is a sign they don't deserve a doctorate.

omar. JUST. morales From my experience certain professors who are like that do not want to debate. They use their doctorate as a means to preach to the class how they feel. She needs to stay with the topic of the course and that's it. I don't preach about my political belief in front of my course. I have had discussions with students on the side, but that's it.

omar. JUST. morales If she was "set up" she needs to be more intelligent in her choice of words. What she can say can hurt her in the end. People do agree with freedom of speech, but as a result you have to suffer the consequences if you say something stupid, and that means being criticized. I am not saying being threaten nor being attacked with violence. But being criticized is what she should expect for displaying ignorance and saying something radical.

I have no problem with a professor voicing their opinions. I have a problem with professors who won't listen to the other side. If I was in the class and I were to voice my opinion, would she listen? If yes then I don't have a problem. If no then I would have a problem. That is the real issue. There are so many professors that are not open minded. Also, you have to consider what type of class is this? Is this a topic suited for the class? If no then it should not be discussed. Also, liberals love safe spaces and created them. And I doubt she is being attacked.
