Shhhh, TYT and their viewers don't like to think that hard.

Wages have kept up with inflation.

Under Obama did the economy "improve"? Yes. But remember, we were in a major recession, almost anything was an improvement. Problem is that after 8 years of Obama we are still behind and not where we should be. That is similar to getting a car after a major accident that does not run and you gave it paint job. Is it better? Yes. But the car still does not run. The economy is still poor.

"Hillary proposed a plan to retrain coal minners and make two years of community college free, Bernie proposed out right tax payer funded tuition of all State schools and universities and White middle America rejected them both and called it "evil socialism"" Because it isn't that easy to retrain workers. They are happy with their lives and now people like Bernie want to come and in and change them for no other reasons than political gain. That is not how it works. If democrats want to help out middle America they will leave them alone.

Hi-Tec Jaymes, you are right that technology is replacing some jobs. What we do is allow the free market to work. With that some jobs will disappear at a slow rate giving the younger generation time to be trained. There is not need to retrain at all. That is the problem, democrats want to tell others want to do when in reality, with the free market, it will fix itself. The other problem with retraining is that these individuals are old and have not been in school for years. You will literally have to start at remedial math with them adding at least another year of retraining. Mix that in with an attitude of them not wanting to be retrained, and the issues of a non-traditional student, it is not that easy. I always said I wished democratic policies worked because on paper they are easy, in reality they are not.

***** We have enough "help" from the government as is. That is why people keep voting in republicans. The federal government does not help but instead makes things worse. The ideas of Bernie Sanders would have destroyed the US.

Im a Riot You didn't leave them alone. You invaded on their personal lives, pushed for more regulations, invaded into their healthcare and stood in the way of economic growth. Democrats only care about themselves.
1
So you want to retrain a bunch of 30 and 40 year olds about renewable energy? You want to retrain people who have not had remedial math in over a decade? Go ahead and try that, see how easy it is. To let you know, it isn't that easy.

Neon Brigador Why not?

Neon Brigador I agree technology will replace some jobs. The issue is that we have to allow the transition happen gradually. That is done with the free market. A lot of people working in coal mining and manufacturing are in their 30s and 40s and even older. You are not going to train them to do a new job. With the free market the younger generation will become trained for those new jobs and eventually the other ones will disappear. The problem we have now with democrats is they are killing those manufacturing and coal jobs with high taxes and regulations and they are not allowing the transition to occur gradually.
1
Neon Brigador There is no need to fund it because the market will shift to them eventually. There is no need to fund anything, those jobs will come as they are coming now.
1
Neon Brigador They are coming fast enough. We can't keep up, at the university level, with the number of students enrolling in college. People are being trained and the jobs are waiting, especially in the medical field. The Great Depression and Recession saw slow recovery because of government intervention.
1
Neon Brigador The Hoover administration did a lot of intervention himself. In 1921 Hoover was asked to create a plan to "fix" the economy following then crash of 1921. When he came up with a plan a year later recovery was happening so the federal government did nothing. In 1929 he implemented that plan and than FDR came in and expanded it causing the depression. I know you are talking about renewable energy jobs. Those are coming as well. We are fine if the federal government just leaves the market alone.
1
Neon Brigador I know all of that, and the great depression did not end until the late 1930s, early 1940s, and that was only because of the war. FDR turned the recession into the depression. Those New Deal programs hindered recovery and are causing most of the problems we have now.
1
Neon Brigador Hoover was US Secretary of Commerce under Harding. Maybe I should have been more clear. Harding asked Hoover to develop a plan in 1921.
1
Neon Brigador There was a recession in 1921.

***** Yeah, when you reach the highest unemployment rate in the country's history you have a better chance of seeing the largest reduction. Same with GDP growth. But that was mainly because of the war.

Jj Ek Very true. A lot of research is being done to remove CO2 from the air. That looks like a promising route as well. One problem, though, is that regulations hinder research in that as well. Funny how liberals love regulations and they are the same regulations that hinder progress in cleaning the air and alternative energy.
