She doesn't know how unemployment is calculated. She is an idiot.

MrKgb63, if you make college "tuition free" colleges will raise their prices costing the government more money. Also, books, rent, etc. will cost more. The student loan program caused college tuition so sky rocket.

Burlington has 42,000 people, that is far from being a "city". It has no industry making it very easy to manage. Burlington also has a negative growth rate. But hey, leave out facts that don't suit your ideas. Bernie is an economic illiterate.

She doesn't know how unemployment is calculated. And why is she in Kansas? She does not represent those people.

Hey There, Norway has lower corporate taxes, a free market in employer/employee relationship, no min. wage, 5 million people, higher oil productivity, and lower obesity rate. But hey, ignore all of that and just call a country whatever you want I guess.

SodaBoy628, those polls are unreliable. Bernie was never subjected to the attacks from the RNC. The RNC wanted Bernie to beat Clinton as he is a much easier candidate. People are not going to vote for a socialist who defended Castro, never had a real job in his life, stole electricity from his neighbor and wants to raise everyone's taxes. If Bernie runs against Trump in 2020 Bernie might win 10 states at best.
2
The same polls said Clinton was going to win. Polls are unreliable for several reasons. 80% of voters in Colorado said no to universal healthcare. Why? Because people saw that taxes were going to go up. People on the midwest want lower taxes, not higher.

MMT is a joke.

Those who say universal healthcare would be cheaper are mistaken. What government funded program actually driven down cost? Other nations do it cheaper because they have lower quality, less R&D and their culture simply has healthier lifestyles with lower obesity and smoking rates. Fact is these ultra leftists have no clue what they are doing. They are promising these things to people with no clue how to fund them or manage them. AOC was asked how she will pay for them and her response was simply saying they will have to look at the tax code.

786otto, why work when the government will provide you with everything you need? That will be my attitude along with the attitude of others. That is why socialism on a large scale never works. People become entitled and refuse to work.

Hauke Holst, 1. In European nations everyone pays higher taxes, not just the rich. In the US the top 10% earned 40% of the income but paid 70% of federal income taxes. That sounds like a "fair share" to me 2. US medical spending is higher because of our high quality and R&D. Also, we have many government regulations that drive up the cost. One is that no ER can deny services. People get care at the ER and cannot pay, so others pick up the cost. That is a form of universal healthcare. The US just refuses to lower the quality like other nations do. Also, insurance companies have too much power due to the lack of a free market. Despite what economic illiterates like AOC we do not have a capitalist system in healthcare. We have a higher regulated one that takes powers away from the consumers. 3. Defense spending has been dropping for years. $300 billion on healthcare would not put a dent in the total cost. Healthcare is close to a $4 trillion industry.

Kit's pics, the administrative cost is very deceptive. To start, medicare has the luxury of other government agencies to run certain programs. For examples, insurance pays for disease awareness where medicare has the CDC. Medicare has the IRS to collect revenue, insurance doesn't have that. Next, if you do a per patient cost Robert Book showed that medicare cost $509/patient where insurance cost $453/patient in administration cost. So medicare is more expensive.

Fredrik, the top 10% earn 40% of the income but pay 70% of federal income taxes. You point to corporations which are no people, so that is a completely different situation all together. As for your math, people who in the 1% are paid through multiple sources. Now if you want to complain about the complexity of our tax code I would agree. I support a flat income tax and a consumption tax. That's fair. But to ultra leftists what't "fair" is taxing the rich at a higher rate for arbitrary reasons.

CJ Davison, K-12 education is ran and funded locally. SS is running out of money. The VA is a mess.

Overall Retardation, Norway does many things that Bernie doesn't support. Norway has no min. wage, Bernie wants to double it. Norway has lower corporate taxes, Bernie wants to raise them. Norway produces more oil than the US, Bernie wants to reduce the production of oil. Also, a larger economy is more diverse and harder to micromanage. How many nations have 100+ million people, universal healthcare and are successful economically?
1
Overall Retardation, first off, don't use the phrase "living wage", it is 100% subjective. Next, unions can be strong if you have limited government. Nations like Norway have a free market when it comes to employer/employee relationships. In the US unions are some of the top donors in campaigns which is crony unionism. One of the reasons why the min. wage exists is because of unions use it as a negotiating tool in wages. In countries like Norway unions are strong as they have a free market system in that regards. That is the complete opposite of what Bernie wants. Less war will not come close to paying for Bernie's stuff. Defense spending is 4% of GDP, healthcare is 1/6 of GDP. Germany is very controlling in their system. They decide who can and cannot go to college. Culture plays a major role in and economic system. Compare Utah and Nevada, two neighboring states with different cultures. Look at how different their economies are.

Samol, you can't make a ranking for "happiness" as there is no way to quantify it. Ultra leftists point to those completely subjective lists as an argument when in reality it makes them look foolish. I bet the 2018 Cleveland Browns fans would be happier than the 2017 Browns fans if the Browns won 5 games this year. Does that mean those fans were in the best situation? No. As for education ranking, there are indicators the US does well in education. Reality is that our cultures are different and you can't compare.

Afinati, "happiness" is very subjective. Being "happy" does not mean one is in the best situation.
