Also, depression went up. With increases in depression you have a weaker immune system. Same with people not being allowed to go to gyms. So how many ended up with weaker immune systems due to the lockdowns and covid protocols? There was also an increase in cancer deaths due to lack of cancer screening. So to place this purely on covid is simply anti science. Other variables are involved.

What I suggest is that we just leave people alone at that point. A reason why state rights were created is that some areas have a very subjective viewpoint on many issues, and thus, they will govern themselves as such. What is annoying and divisive is when a state passes a law the people of that state wants but outsiders trying to overrule that. Case in point, the TX abortion law. When TX passed it that is what the people of TX want. But when you have Mayor deBlasio making comments on it when he is not from TX, the people of TX do not pay him nor vote for him, or when you have Biden's team filing lawsuits on the state of TX, that becomes divisive. If you do not live in TX then move on. Same on when other states pass laws that someone from the outside may disagree with. If you don't live there, don't pay taxes there, don't vote there, etc. then move on

Also, there is the situation on of Roe v Wade is actually constitutional and that abortion should purely be a state issue. "And as I said we should draft a law with preclearance through Congress so states can't try and chip away at rights" Rights are granted in the Constitution, not congress. That is the standard. Every government has to work within the frame of the Constitution. Congress should not be overpowering and stepping out of their limits. The federal government is to handle foreign affairs and commerce between states. On almost every political issue you have an objective and subjective side to it. An idea of state rights is to handle the subjective side to it. Abortion is as subjective as it gets. If a state wants to limit it and that is what the people of that state wants then so be it. If CA or NY want abortion to be readily available to their citizens and the voters of those states want that then so be it. I don't live in either state so I won't do anything to change that. Nor do I want the people of NY or CA to change how my state functions, the state I vote in, pay taxes in, live in, work in, etc.

If Chauvin was found not guilty there was going to be riots. Why should Waters care? She would have been safe in her gated community in CA. The people of MN do not vote for her either. As I said, when TX passed their abortion law mayor deBlasio had to make a comment. Why? The people of TX do not vote for him, they do not pay his salary. He lives in NYC. His opinion does not matter at that point. Worry about your city and state that people are running away from. That is the problem. The left feel the need to force their way of life on others. The federal government is there for two things: deal with foreign affairs and commerce between states. That's it. For example, we can move freely from state to state. That is because the federal government demands that of states. Another is that if one state has their pollution laws they can't pollute another state. One state can't harm another one. With federal laws, the federal government can't enforce domestic law in states without consent of the governor. For example, when Hurricane Katrina happened in LA president Bush wanted to send federal troops in to help. The governor of LA delayed the approval so the troops could not do anything. It is the same in that Trump wanted to send in troops in many states to stop the riots in the summer of 2020. Many governors and mayors said no. So he could not do anything. It is about placing limitations on governments.

Local governments handle it better as many issues are complex. Compare it to K-12 education. You don't have one teacher teaching all the students in the school. You have departments. In high school you have the science department with a leader and different science teachers that teach physics, biology, etc. as opposed to one doing the whole thing.

When it comes to almost all political issues there are an objective and a subjective side to them. Same with abortion. There are strong arguments in both making abortion legal and illegal. Very subjective. Thus, if one state wants to make it illegal and the people of that state support it, then so be it. If you do not live in that state then move on. As for the Constitution, yes, the Constitution limits all government. On abortion you have Casey v PP on the abortion ruling where the TX bill does fall in line with that. So there is that. In reality, I question the Roe v Wade ruling as there in nothing in the 14th amendment that talks about privacy. But again, I am not saying I support the TX bill or that I don't support it. What I am saying is that it is a great example of how the left want to change people's lives where they really don't have business doing so. If you don't live in TX then why should you care? And in regards to the Constitution, there is a strong argument the current bill does not violate the Constitution.

According to a UCSF report from a few years ago 50% of new nursing home patients die in 6 months and the average lifespan of them is around a year. If you were to graph covid deaths as a function of age, survival probability as a function of age and death rate as a function of age from previous years the graphs have the same shape. As in people dying with covid were at high risk to begin with. So you bring up excess deaths but completely ignore so many variables such as increase in depression, increase in cancer deaths, increase in substance abuse, etc. So no, covid is not the best explanation.

You mentioned MS, AL and AK, states with a large black population where one, blacks have a lot vaccination rate to begin with. And two, blacks, genetically, have a higher rate of heart disease which can play a role in covid related deaths as well. Also, those states are near the top in obesity rates as well. Again, many variables. Please stop being anti science.

Well again, there is no really no major differences between all the states overall in the numbers. Or consider Sweden. No lockdowns. They were top 10 in deaths per capita at one point. Now they are close to dropping out of the top 40 worldwide. And Denmakr, Norway and Finland are seeing record case numbers where Sweden is not. All the covid protocols did was delay what was going to happen while ruining lives and the economy. In all, it caused more problems.
