@sekhmara8590 schools are there to follow a set curriculum. How one views the world varies. Many do not want a teacher giving their world view on their kids. Say a teacher was a pot smoking belly dancer on the weekend, should that be relevant to a student's education?

Ben Shapiro just did an episode on this point. He brings up way better points and actually quotes the bill.

No. Schools ran by tax dollars are there to follow a curriculum. The 14th amendment simply means that gay individuals have a right to a public education if a state or local government offers one. That's it.

@longlivethesheet4561 this is not a free speech issue. Teachers are supposed to follow as set curriculum and certain restrictions. Say, in middle school, there is a class on sex ed and a teacher started telling the students about their kinky sex life. How will you feel?
1
@longlivethesheet4561 no, the point is that saying "free speech" is not an argument. Ok, here. Should a teacher teaching math go on a political rant?
1
@longlivethesheet4561 "I recommend you read a book on the topic of LGBTQ+ history and rights instead of loli hentai" You are missing the point. The point of the bill is to prevent teachers from having personal discussions with students, especially at younger age on sexuality. Such as a teacher talking about gay relationships or trans issues. They are too young and that is not a part of the curriculum. Do we teach sex ed to 2nd graders? No. At the older levels there is an argument to be made to they can learn that, but as an elective. And the bill does not ban that at all. Show me where in the bill it bans that? Also, what it prevents is teachers forcing their beliefs of LGBT.... on students. Just like if a teacher were to force their religious beliefs on others. I recommend you read books on law and how our public education system functions.

There is not freedom of speech in schools. It is not a public park or a protest. Schools has a set curriculum that teachers must follow. The curriculum is typically decided by the parents that the teachers, who are paid via tax dollars, must follow. Compare is to this, what if a teacher were to start teaching creative design next to evolution and used free speech as an argument that they can do that?
1
@JohnSpike8888 so you don't support freedom of speech in the classroom?
1
@longlivethesheet4561 he breaks down well how this is not anti free speech.
1
The free speech argument with teacher is 100% wrong. Teachers are there to follow as set curriculum. If a teacher were to teach creative design along side evolution, based on Mike's reasoning that should be allowed because "free speech". Or if a teacher were to start talking about their kinky sex life in front of a class, that should be allowed by Mike's reasoning because "free speech".
1
@longlivethesheet4561 ok, and the point is in what ways should we be teaching kids about that, if at all? I was never taught in school that I must love a girl. That is irrelevant. What I do in my personal life is non of my school's business unless there is actual physical abuse going on. And on that the proper authorities take actions, not teachers in the end.
1
@longlivethesheet4561 what?
1
@keirfarnum6811 there are many social phenomenon that exist, at what age do we teach them to kids? Not at a young age. What this bill is preventing teachers from having sensitive discussions with kids about sexuality when that is not age appropriate. How would you feel if you had a gay son and the teacher was pushing heterosexuality on them? It is the same way. You are making it seem like this bill cannot teach anything LGBT related, schools still can, but there are limits.
1
@FrozEnbyWolf150 science does not debunk anything to start. Uh, you do know I feel climate change is happening and I support vaccines?
1
@keirfarnum6811 it is similar to teaching sex ed. There is a way to do it. One way not to do it is having a teacher describe their kinky sex life. Teaching of LGBT will be allowed, it would be with limits though. It is the same as CRT. Race history is still taught, what isn't being allowed is saying that white people are bad and blacks struggle these days because of racism.
