Work ethics in the US is dying. If those people don't like their job they can quit. A lot of people have no problem working 12 hour days. Some of the most successful people do it all the time.

@ashleecantu6470 So you have no argument there? Many intelligent people have bad grammar. I do and I admit it. It was a challenge for me when I was pursuing my PhD in physical chemistry. But hey, when you have no counter argument you go after something irrelevant. At least you did not call me a bootlicker or a racist or something.

@ppmny7015 yeah they do. Many people in factories do as it gives them extra money and more time off down the road.

@ppmny7015 not saying I do. But to automatically assume that Kellogg is in the wrong here is foolish.

@ashleecantu6470 universities have writing centers for a reason. Some people excel at different skills. I was very good at my research. All my writing had to be edited which is actually normal. You do know that people write multiple drafts before they publish something? That brings up a point, this is a youtube comment, not my PhD dissertation or a peer reviewed paper for publication. Do you think I will spend a lot of time editing it? So clearly you know little about college. Many people do not mind working 60 hours a week. In fact, I do it myself with my new career. In factory and warehouse work many like it as they get OT pay along with more time off down the road to enjoy the money they have. And if you have a 401K plan that OT pay will help a lot. Kellogg pays nearly $20 an hour. That is the market rate for a job like that. I worked for Amazon warehouse, twice. Once as a summer job and again after I earned my PhD and was applying for jobs to where I got the one I received now. It is not hard work.

@ashleecantu6470 but again, you attacked the grammar of a youtube comment that I quickly wrote and did not edit. Sorry I am not like you and can write something error free the first time.

@ashleecantu6470 one, that is outside my field. Next, why don't you give me such peer reviewed data if there is so much. And I mean peer reviewed. Yes, there are situations where one can work so hard they start doing more harm than good. But they are mainly in individual cases. Many factories have times where their workers work 12 hour days. They don't do it year round because that would be a waste of money. There are peak periods. Besides, look at the strike, it isn't focused on hours worked. It involves retirement, healthcare benefits, vacation time, etc. So there is that. That seems to be the focus and not on the hours worked a day.

@oswarz what?

@ashleecantu6470 you are wasting your time bud as that caller is not me. But believe whatever you want I guess. I don't discriminate against religion.

Those sound like vague ideas. What is a "livable minimum wage"? And if you have that, why have universal basic income? How do you provide universal healthcare with limited resources?
1
You can't tie the min. wage to inflation. To start, what method of inflation are you using? There are multiple. Next, do you factor in the shortcomings of inflation measurements? Along with that, not everything inflates. A min. wage worker's value does not necessarily increase over time. Consider the employee that worked at a Block Buster. They are worth zero dollars now. Along with that, most min. wage workers do not work fulltime nor are they poor.
