He isn't wrong, states should decide on abortion and marriage. Now Mike brings up rights, those are listed in the Constitution. Now take interracial marriage, if a state recognizes marriage they can't discriminate based on raced because of the 14th amendment. Lindsey is not dodging anything, the interviewer is distracting from the real issues.

Here is the reality, Having your marriage be recognized is not a right in the Constitution, thus it becomes a state issue. Much like K-12 education is a state issue as it is not listed in the Constitution. However, if a state recognizes marriage via the 14th amendment it cannot discriminate based on race. Just like if a state offers a K-12 education it cannot discriminate based on race via the 14th amendment. Now where, in that statement, am I wrong? How am I being a troll? If I am wrong explain how. If not, then great, you learned something. If not then I am sorry, but you are closed minded or have a bias. It is one of those three. Also, what I find to be funny is that when I disagree with anyone on this form I am labeled the worse thing ever. Such as when I say having your marriage being recognized by the government is not a right I am labeled as some racist that wants to ban interracial marriage which is not true at all. For me it is all or nothing. Either government recognizes marriage between all races or none at all. Period. So again, how am I a troll? Because I come here for engagement? @JordanS215 I am sorry but your comment shows you rather live in an echo chamber than being challenged. I used to be a right winger. I became very moderate by challenging myself on forms like this. I say that because I used to be against gay marriage. I used to be again taxation, welfare spending, etc. I support many issues on the left, I just feel we need control over government still in doing so. If you actually knew my stance on many issues you would be shocked.

Yes, united states. Not united people. The federal government is made up of the states where each state does what they want as long as they don't violate the Constitution. The federal government is there for two things 1. Deal with foreign affairs, something the states cannot do 2. Deal with commerce between states Both keep us united. Beyond that everything else is left up to the states.

@sr2291 states and local government fund 3/4 of roads in the US. Federal highways are a part of interstate commerce. But other roads are ran locally and many are great. Where I live our freeway system is amazing. It is the interstate system that actually is the dangerous part to drive.

Abortion is a tricky issue. One one hand you say a woman's right to choose, on another it is the woman's right to choose a man's wallet, on the other hand it is seen as murder. It is highly subjective. Leaving it to the states is the best route. And how did the SC justices perjured themselves?

@angie99656 the 10th amendment established state rights. Many of the founders argued for more local government because the more local the government it the more control people have over it. And with economic issues, the more local government is the better government money is spent. There was a balance with the federal government handling foreign affairs and commerce between the states. The design by the founders was that the federal government is made up of the states, not the people. That is why nothing at the federal level is ever determined by the majority of the people. The states and local governments are made up by the people. It was a balance. The design is great, it sucks the left want to destroy it as they can't govern themselves.

You should learn how the nation is designed. It isn't 50 individual countries. The states cannot mingle in foreign affairs, only the federal government can. The federal government deals with foreign affairs and commerce between states. On the latter part it is why I do not need a passport to cross state lines. It is a balance where the people govern themselves and the states make up the federal government. Nothing at the federal level is determined by the people but instead by state representatives, the states.

The 14th amendment prevents the "banning" (it isn't an actual ban, just not recognizing) interracial marriage. What the Constitution does allow is for states to not recognize any marriage.
